If there’s one thing worth investing in before summer hits full swing, it’s a great swim cover up. Not just any cover up, the kind you can throw on over your suit and actually feel good in, whether you’re grabbing lunch, walking the boardwalk, or heading straight from the pool to wherever the afternoon takes you. I’ve been testing a few lately and want to share the two I keep coming back to, plus a roundup of more options I’m loving right now.
The sarong that goes with everything
A sarong is one of those pieces that sounds simple but does so much. Here I tied it over a red tropical one-piece, and the warm neutral tone plays off the print without competing with it. The wrap style is incredibly versatile. You can wear it midi length like this for a more polished feel, or pull it higher for a shorter silhouette. Tan slide sandals keep it easy and beachy. This whole look took about 90 seconds to put together, and I’d wear it to an outdoor lunch without hesitating.
The eyelet shirt you’ll wear all summer
An oversized button-down as a cover up is one of my favorite styling tricks, and this white eyelet version takes it up a notch. The open weave keeps it breathable and light, and wearing it unbuttoned, or fully closed as a mini dress, gives you so many ways to wear it. Styled here over a swimsuit with tan sandals, it has that effortless, just-stepped-off-a-yacht energy that I am fully here for. It also transitions to dinner way more easily than you’d expect.
More swim cover ups worth shopping
Whether you’re drawn to breezy kaftans, classic wrap skirts, or a cute matching set that doubles as a cover up, there are so many good options out there right now. I’ve rounded up a bunch of my current favorites below! A mix of price points, styles, and vibes, so there’s something for everyone.
A good swim cover up really can change the whole feel of a beach or pool day. It’s the piece that lets you go from morning swim to afternoon plans without missing a beat, and that kind of versatility is worth every penny.
