No, I’m not trying out the non skinny jeans for women trend just because Gen Z said so. In all honesty, my skinny jeans are just a little too skinny for me anymore… Quarantine problems.
And, just to prove my point, I’m still rocking that side part with my new haircut! It honestly took me a long time to hop on the skinny jeans trend, but in my “older” age I’m much more open to trying new fashion trends like some new non-skinny jeans.
My Favorite Non Skinny Jeans to Try this Season:
A few suggestions for when you decide to try out non skinny jeans.
For me, I like to stick to a jean that doesn’t go below the ankle. Whether you cuff it or cut it off, keeping the jeans at ankle length or above really helps elevate the style and keep a less sloppy look.
Sticking with a higher waist jean help you keep the appearance of a fitted look before they get looser in the legs.
Sizing Tips:
Height: 5’3″ Weight: 113 Jean Size: 26/2 High Waisted Jeans: 25/0.
The distressing on these jeans is a little more than I typically go for, but I felt they’d be perfect summer jeans. Especially since they’re non-skinny they will flow! I haven’t shopped at Buckle since it was popular to have more bling on your jeans than you did in your jewelry box, but Madison had a few pairs of Kan-Can jeans and loved them. Now, if you’re shorter than me, I definitely wouldn’t recommend these because they’d be too long, and with the recessed hem style cutting them yourself wouldn’t be a great option.
It’s hard not to hit add to cart on a pair of jeans that have a stretchy and lined waistband. Comfort is something you can always count on with Wit & Wisdom jeans and that even goes for their non-skinny jeans. Now, you do want to size down in these because they do run big. I actually think I could’ve sized down two sizes so I wouldn’t worry about them stretching out during the day. They come cuffed and stitched, however, I did need to add an extra roll to the hem to hit where I prefer. If you’re wanting to test the waters on a pair of non-skinny jeans, these are a great start because they’re more of a slim straight fit.
I hate to pick favorites, but these girlfriend jeans from Pink Lily are definitely a favorite. In all honestly, they’ve probably been my most worn jeans this spring so far. They have fun distressing without it being too much and you can definitely dress them up. The sizing is a little different. I went with a size 1 and they work great. I’m not a great laundry fairy and dry everything so they are a tad tight on the first wear out of the dryer, however, they stretch back out and fit great in a few hours! When it comes to summer jeans, I like to think of light denim. These are by far the lightest I’ve owned (besides white), and they’re perfect for summer! These mom of three hips love the curve fit from Abercrombie and if you’re 5’4″ or over stick with the regular length. I tried the short first and they were too short. Add a graphic tee and some casual sneakers and you’ll be all set!
