During the holidays the front porch always looks magical. Pretty evergreen pine, lights, wreaths and everything else to add some sparkle during the drab winter. I usually struggle keeping up the pretty home decor vibe but this summer front porch refresh seemed to do the trick!
Before:
See what I mean? After the garland is down and no more sparkling lights it’s just so bleh. We did get some fresh mulch down so that helped a little but dang, I was embarrassed even having the UPS guy deliver all my packages daily.
After:
It sure is amazing what a little bit of washing and freshening up can do. I always start the spring season off with a good hose down with the pressure washer. It’s crazy how dirty the porch can be just from rainwater! A few years ago I decided to paint our front doors black to help offset all the brown wood and loved how it turned out. I went ahead and gave them a fresh coat with Rustoleum door paint in satin black. It always amazes me what a fresh coat of paint can do to something. One thing is for sure, it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg for a front porch refresh!
Buying faux floral online can definitely be a gamble. Some things look great and some things look like cheap green plastic. I was very pleased with these wreaths I ordered from Amazon. They will be perfect for putting on the doors right when I take the Christmas wreaths down.
My hanging baskets on the front porch are always something I splurge a bit on. I love a big, bright and full basket that will drape as it grows. These bright pink geraniums are a great offset from the house.
About five years ago I invested in self watering planters and they made a huge difference with my flowers. As the roots grow down they find the water in the reservoir. I like to stick with bright colors in these planters also.
The layered doormat trend is definitely here to stay. I switched things up from my previous striped rug for this design. I love getting rugs from Boutique Rugs because they’re almost always 60% off with a code. My nephew’s girlfriend Grace made my doormat for me. I asked for this saying because it’s pretty true for us all summer long!

Come on over and join me on the porch, I’ll have a glass of wine waiting for you!
