I remember being a kid (well middle schooler) and loved watching Oprah’s Favorite Things show before Christmas. She always seemed to recommend such great pieces whether it be a new type of tea, pajamas, sweater or car. I’ll never forget her show was the first time I ever saw those shoes with the red bottoms on them and even at that age when I was a cashier at a grocery store fell in love with them and knew I’d HAVE to have them one day. Don’t worry, I’m not putting $800 shoes on my list for you today, even though they are a favorite of mine ;).
Let’s start with a few of my favorite things around the house. My number one favorite thing is my Instant Pot. I know many friends that say they haven’t taken the plunge yet but I swear, once you start, you won’t stop! I use this gadget multiple times a week and love that I’m able to minimize my dirty dishes because I can brown meat in there first then set it to cook and roast. Also, I’m one of the biggest procrastinators on the face of the planet and often times remember at 3:30 to thaw out a roast for dinner. With the IP I can defrost the meat just enough to get it out of the packaging, throw it in the IP and in about 60 minutes it’s tender as if it slow roasted for 8 hours. In our house, the kids and I generally eat around 5:00 and it’s usually 7:00 or after when Andrew gets in to eat dinner. Because the lid seals so well and keeps it warm without drying it out he prefers when I use it over my crockpot.
In the past 5 years, or maybe more so after Jayden came along I’ve become an avid coffee drinker. Maybe it’s more in my mind, but I have to have a cup of coffee first thing in the morning to warm and wake me. I’ve been through a few Keurig’s since I became a coffee drinker but was looking for something to help give me a stronger coffee taste this year. Fortunately for Andrew, I did some Christmas shopping while he was bear hunting and received some great reviews on the Ninja Coffee Bar. To my luck, I was fortunate and grabbed it at an amazing price of $85 on sale at Kohls (basically the price of a Keurig). I may have stuck my bottom lip out and pouted when it arrived and asked if I could get it out early… since I knew what it was anyway. It will take me a few tries to tweak my measuring because this morning I may have had half a carafe with little food and wound up with the coffee jitters because I got it a little strong.
When we finally finished the bar/game room in our downstairs with a small kitchen I wanted to be able to cook a pizza, warm up dishes or basically have a mini oven down there. I grabbed this Oster toaster oven for my mom and myself and am actually amazed at how much I use it. It heats up so much faster than my large oven does so we can have a pizza finished in the amount of time it would take for my regular oven to preheat. Obviously, I like it so much that I’m hinting around that I’d like this Breville version that is a little bigger and has the air fry option for my main kitchen. At that point, I’ll probably run a clean cycle on my gas oven and tell it goodnight as it will only see some action around the holidays. LOL
Now to take a dive into a few of my favorites that have been added to my closet recently. I definitely have to start off with the Spanx leggings. I’ll be the first to say that never in a million years would I have thought that at being a size 2 I’d be buying Spanx. BUT, once I tried these leggings last year, I automatically bought more styles of the faux leather style this year. They are so easy to dress up or down. Whether I’m heading to the grocery store pretending I’m going to work out or heading out for date night they’ve got me covered.
I’m all about cozy pullovers this season. Since I’m home during the day, cozy is my middle name most of the time. So on the days I do change out of my PJ’s you’ll find me in a pair of leggings and these pullovers.
I got my first slip on wedge sneakers this year during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have become quite the fan. They’re so easy to either pair with leggings or skinny jeans to complete an outfit. I splurged a bit on these Blondo’s but it paid off because they are waterproof and I swear to goodness it rained for 40 days straight this fall!
I’ve recently hopped on the cozy boot sock train. I love adding that extra layer of warmth to my tootsies and it takes me back to my younger days of getting the sock slouch just perfect. My UGG wedge booties are a little big around my ankle and it fills in the gaps perfectly!
The Makeup Eraser is basically the Magic Eraser to me. This rag plus water removes my makeup perfectly, especially because there are times it’s left on a few days in a row and I just add a translucent powder to cover the oil. No judgment is needed, it’s just that it takes a lot of work to create the “perfect” face. LOL
I hope a few of my favorite things can now become your favorite things! If you have something that’s a personal favorite of yours and feel I’m missing out, leave it in the comments so I can add it to my Christmas list!
