I officially have another teenager in the house! I’m currently sitting at two out of three teenagers in the house now, so I’ll take all the prayers and wine you want to send my way! After the kids hit a certain age (usually around 5 or 6) we don’t do big parties. For the past few years for Madison’s birthday we went to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort to celebrate her birthday (and mine) with friends and their moms who are also my friends. I was a little disappointed we weren’t going there again, but figured since turning 13 as a young girl can be a big deal, I gave her the boho chick birthday party of her Pinterest board dreams.

Madison asked to take over the downstairs living room so that was the main space for the party. When it comes to the table, Andrew took two pallets and topped them with a 4×8 sheet of plywood and added a few pieces of 2×4’s to elevate it from the floor. Unfortunately with the cost of lumber these days the table ended up costing a little more than we wanted. But, your only girl only turns 13 once I guess…
Proof that they all enjoyed the table. And, if you saw this room this morning when I checked on them it seemed like a pretty lit party with Mountain Dew and juice pouches.
Instead of a traditional cake Madison opted for cookies and cake pops. We got them from two local bakeries. She was hoping to get a “fluffy” cow for her birthday but these cookies from Your Cookie Rookie are as close as she’s getting. The cake pops and other cookies came from Morgan Stover.
When it came to food for dinner, I did walking tacos and a taco bar with fruits and veggies. Simple, but I knew it would be something these girls would eat!
Last but not least, I couldn’t have pulled it off without my sweet sweet friend. She spent 9 hours with me putting it all together between cleaning, decorating and cooking. Aside from a day spent shopping on Amazon for everything!
I hope if you’re planning for a boho chic birthday party coming up in the future, I was able to be a good resource for you and make your party planning go a little easier!
