This mom doesn’t really have much booty, but even if I did I’ve found some great denim shorts that have me rocking the mom style without them being as long as my husbands. Being in my 30’s and a mom of three, finding appropriate shorts to wear in the summer can often be frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, when I’m home and around the house working on my flowers or mowing the yard I’m still wearing my shorts from years ago because no one wants tan lines halfway down their thighs. I know full well how it can be hard for moms to still keep their personal style and looking young and fresh without looking like they’re 18 and headed out on a Friday night.

Starting last year I began adding more midi-length style shorts to my closet and I feel they give me the perfect balance!

Denim Shorts

I snatched up these shorts as soon as they were released and they’ve been a huge hit. There’s just a few left in this exact pair but Old Navy has added a few new styles that are just as great! To me, this 5″ length is great for anything from ball games to a family dinner out on Saturday night.

BlankNYC Jean shorts

Going a little different route with these shorts will #1 take you up a bit in cost with being more of a designer jean and #2 give a more fun look. I’ve bought many BlankNYC jeans, however these are my first shorts. With the cuffed hem and 3″ inseam I wouldn’t necessarily call them “mom shorts” however, this mom will be rocking them this summer! I won’t ever knock Old Navy jeans like above because you truly can’t beat the quality for the price. But… like the saying goes, you get what you pay for these shorts are such a soft and stretch denim I wouldn’t fuss one bit wearing them on a road trip this summer!

I’m going to classify these STS Blue shorts your in the middle shorts. Mainly because they hit in the middle of the cost factor. The coloring/fading were definitely on point with this style as sometimes it looks like tie dye gone bad, but not with these cuties! Sometimes with the jeans of this brand I have to size down, but I went with their sizing recommendations and kept to my normal 26 and they were a perfect fit. These are actually the shortest shorts in my review being 2.5 inches however I feel I could get away with the middle school short test by the principal if need be!

Last year I bought my first pair of bermuda shorts and I really wasn’t sure about them. Turns out, I really like to wear them! The key to wearing these shorts if you truly don’t want to look like a tomgirl (even though that’s what they’re often referred to) is to not go all over frumpy. If you are wearing a looser top, give it a front tuck to help elongate your legs. Also when it comes to shoes, you can definitely wear your favorite flats or cute slip on sneakers, but go ahead and go from tomgirl to girl by wearing a wedge or small block heel with your favorite summer top!

I’m sure you’re as ready to bring on summer as much as I am and I hope these different short styles help give you some inspiration to maybe try something new you’ve been on the fence with!
