This year for my Christmas decorating I’ve been leaning more towards keeping things simple rather than the glitz and glam that I used to go for. The saying less is more, can really come to play when decorating for the holidays. I started with simplifying things with my outdoor decorations and am now moving that plan inside. Recently I bought a plain wooden tray from Walmart to use for serving cheese and snack boards over the holidays. Well instead of just sitting it in the cupboard until I’m ready to use it, I decided to turn it into a decoration on my island. With three simple things, it was easy to decorate a wooden tray for Christmas.
When picking a tray to start with, I loved the wood color of this one along with the gold handles. Plus, for under $20 it couldn’t be beaten. I just added it to my grocery order and picked it up!

Tips to Decoarate a Wooden Tray for Christmas
When it comes time to decorate a wooden tray for Christmas you can keep it so simple. Just find a small pine, one of your favorite smelling candles, and a reindeer, Santa or snowman.
I found the decor for my tray at Target. These little $10 trees are perfect for adding in little spaces where you want a little more Christmas cheer. When I saw the rattan reindeer, I couldn’t pass it up. By not choosing a Santa, I feel it can sit out as decor beyond Christmas. Sometimes I have to be careful with candles because the scents can irritate me. These small candles at Target are the perfect size for adding to your wooden tray. I went with the fireside glow scent and it’s so good for the holidays!
