I know, I know, this style of sneakers isn’t for everyone. Before I became more aware of fashion trends I wasn’t sold on the sneakers that look like they’ve been worn for a year or two and have sparkles. But, over time, they kind of grew on me. However, have you googled casual sneakers? There are so many different brands and many different price points. Taking the top two brands, which do I like better? Golden Goose or P448 sneakers?
Pros and Cons of P448 Sneakers
I bought my first pair of P448 sneakers over 3 years ago. When I first slipped them on, I honestly felt like I was walking on clouds. I had never had a pair of sneakers with that kind of cushion in the insole. I’ll never forget, even my son Parker slipped them on when I was raving about them and said he could probably jump 10 feet high with that cushion. While they are still a splurge usually averaging around $298, you can quite frequently find them on sale at Nordstrom and they always include a few styles during the Anniversary Sale.
The P448 sneakers don’t need time to break in. The leather is naturally soft and forms to your foot rather quickly. There is a difference between the regular low sneaker and hi-top sneaker on the fit. The regular sneakers have more give than the hi tops. Also, if you get a pair with a lot of glitter that can stiffen them up.
Pros and Cons of Golden Goose Sneakers
I decided to get my first pair of Golden Goose Sneakers for Christmas this year. In all honesty, I’ve been on the fence for so long and actually got turned off by them a few years ago when I was in Nordstrom and I had a not-so-nice sales associate not want to be nice and help me in looking. That really put a bad taste in my mouth. But doing “research” helped me take the plunge. 😉 I went with a more neutral style that I felt would go with everything. Though, while shopping for a pair I kept thinking- this style would be great for Steeler games, these ones with the blue and gold would be perfect for the kids sports events. There are so many colors and styles it can definitely become overwhelming when shopping around.
So, when you first put the sneakers on they don’t have the cushioning like the P448 do. The leather is a little stiffer and you’re going to want to wear them a lot to break them in. I definitely don’t recommend getting them in the mail on Friday and wearing them to your Disney vacation the next day. So, the comfort isn’t there as much in my opinion, but I’ve worn them non-stop since Christmas.
One big pro is that Golden Goose sneakers hold their resell value really well. So if you decide to sell them after a year or so, you aren’t going to lose much of your investment.
So, I don’t know if I helped you make your decision or made it more difficult. But, I’ll leave it at this. If you’re just looking for a casual sneaker that you can wear year-round but you prefer comfort first. Go P448. If you love stepping outside of the box and don’t mind an investment shoe then go Golden Goose.
