The way the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is working this year has definitely been different, but hasn’t all of 2020 for the most part? I hadn’t stepped foot in a mall since about January and really debated going in store for the NSale, but we had such a good time last year and as much as I rely on you all to shop online through my links to keep this gig going, the stylists and associates also rely on us to come in store for some shopping too so they can keep their jobs. So, I wanted to try and do my part when things have definitely been rough in the retail industry.
I’m sure I’ll catch some slack for trying things on in a dressing room, but they are constantly getting sanitized and everyone is entitled to do what they’re comfortable with! 😉
This year, Madison and I created our wishlists online then sent them to our stylist so she could have everything pulled and ready for us. If you can do that I highly encourage you.
1: It definitely helps keep everyone from touching everything.
2: If you’re wanting to stick to a budget, this is the best way because you’re not going to be walking around and having things that weren’t on your wishlist catch your eye!
In all reality, I felt a lot of pieces were very similar to styles from last year including the shoes, so my wishlist wasn’t that big this year. Also, when I started blogging I definitely got sucked into the rabbit hole of thinking I needed EVERYTHING. Now, I go for pieces that I know rarely go on sale and items that I can easily style multiple ways. Staples, to say the least.
I had this top on my wishlist in the ivory and did a poll asking for a vote on team ivory or team coral. Coral won by a landslide. It was a pleasant surprise and I can always stand to add a little more color to my wardrobe. I usually take advantage of adding a good pair of denim during the sale. Especially brands like AG, Frame, Good American that rarely go on sale. I loved the fit of these AG jeans and did size down one. These booties were a pleasant surprise. I honestly had no intention of getting any brown booties because my Vince Camuto ones from last year are similar to the new ones. Well, as soon as I touched the leather on these I knew I needed them. They are beyond soft and truly just mold to your foot!
I was in need of a new striped tee like this. I used to snag the BP ones from the sale but this year Caslon won out. Nicely made and under $13 is hard to beat! My stylist pulled these Frame jeans for me and I loved the fit! The only reason they didn’t come home with me is because it was a little too much distressing with heading into the fall and winter months for me. I had these flats pre-NSale and can’t recommend them enough. For me, they fit TTS and are a great statement flat!
Last year I snagged a super similar Free People top in a pretty green color. This white is what I selected on my wishlist, but actually ended up taking the black home! I’m wearing my typical XS size and the buttons are actually functioning so you can hide some cleavage if you prefer. 😉
My stylist pulled this cute sweater for me and I truly loved it, but it was just outside of my budget for sweaters. I’m not usually the best with laundry and I’d be upset if it ended up fitting one of Madison’s dolls after the first time I wore it. LOL
I’m always a sucker for anything Gibson cozy. This top is definitely oversized as I’m in the XS and could’ve definitely sized down. Perfect with leggings. I did end up passing on this and ordering a different Gibson pullover.
I’m hoping to actually get out of the house a little more often here before long and felt this top would be perfect for my monthly foundation meetings I attend. Nothing fancy, but perfect with both dress slacks or jeans. I was in the market for white booties and these have a subtle croc texture. I was honestly bringing these home until I realized the Steve Madden ones I fell in love with in brown came in a white croc so those are the ones I ended up ordering since they weren’t in store!
Well, I’m not surprised that this cardigan already sold out. Fingers crossed it comes back because this style here truly feels like you’re wrapped in a cozy blanket. You better believe this one came home with me. I also have this style from last year and love it.
You know how I said don’t walk around looking if you want to stick to your wishlist? Well, I walked around and came across this tee and had to have it. It says “Roses are Pink, Get me a Drink”… perfect right? It’s also under $20. My jeans are from last year’s sale and I’m still wearing them. They’re back again this year in a similar style, but just don’t have the distressing.
If dress pants are a necessity for your work wear I highly recommend these pants! Pull on style, but they fit more like a Ponte pant than a legging. Unlike the Spanx leggings there’s no need to size up in these!
What I came home with and ordered:
Madison’s Favorites for Back to School
My girl loves her flannels and the colors of this one were perfect! We’ve really been struggling with jeans also lately. Her length and waist aren’t matching up so sizing is usually off. These worked great though because of the adjustable waist and ankle length!
She’s turned into a Zella girl so she knew this top would be perfect with her leggings for easy days at school.
Madison snagged this top in a pretty blue last year and loved it. She was thankful it was back again with different colors and prints. We came home with the camo and ended up ordering the purple and leopard!
Not to many girls can say no to tie-dye. She was a fan of this pullover that can either be worn with leggings or a little tuck with her favorite jeans.
It’s nothing fancy, but a basic hoodie is a good staple. It is a cropped style but definitely wasn’t to short for her to wear with jeans and to school.
Another great top with a fun cinched side to wear with her leggings on gym days. Who am I kidding, she wears leggings way beyond just on gym days! LOL

We hope you getting to see some of these pieces in real life help you out with your shopping! We had a fun day in our masks making the most out of our day and new tradition!
