Well, I hope you didn’t miss out on the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale. You had over a week to snag up all the awesome deals. However, I did learn that if you weren’t quick, you probably missed out on some of the hottest items.
I’ll be honest, I’ve only been an avid Nordstrom shopper for about two years now. I first got hooked through their affiliate Hautlook and Nordstrom Rack. For about 6 months I deleted the app from my phone because I was ordering something pretty much daily. I’m telling you, between Amazon and Hautelook – Nordstrom my UPS driver probably hates me. (Check out my previous post on my love for Amazon) I always thought Nordstrom was just a higher end department store. Once I realized they cover a large scale of affordable to designer I fell in love.
My shopping bag consisted of a little bit of everything. I was looking for everything from casual tees, off the shoulder tops, date night tops, casual dresses (long and short), and my first pair of espadrille’s!
Let’s start casual.
I love how just the little bit of detail in these split neck tees from Topshop give just enough. I’ll be honest, never did I think I’d wear just a basic crew neck tee. But, with that little split detail and throwing on a cute necklace it’s great for everyday wear. Whether, you’re just around the house, running errands, taking the kids to the park. Perfect! I’d recommend sizing up, I got a 4 and I’d feel better in a 6. Plus, everything of mine goes in the dryer so I may be in trouble! LOL
Probably my favorite casual top goes to this little peek a boo piece here. I LOVE the corset front detail. It’s so comfy and fits nice and loose. It’s the perfect length to wear with shorts or throw on with a pair of skinny jeans. This top gives you just a little illusion of cleavage, but deters the eyes from pulling in too much with the corset detail.
You can’t beat a dress that you can be super versatile. Throw on a pair on converse, score! Throw on flip flops, score! Throw on wedges, perfect! This ruched body-con dress is so comfortable. This ruching hits the perfect spot. I feel it gives me the perfect amount leeway to eat a little extra at lunch and no one will know. – That’s what I’m talking about! 😉 This dress paired with jean jacket will go great with any shoes. I’d say it’s the perfect day to night outfit. Start out for the day in converse and a jean jacket. Then, come evening and if you’re fortunate enough to squeeze in a dinner with girlfriends with your busy mom life then throw on a pair of wedges with a chunky necklace and bracelets and you’re good to go!
My last dress that I’d throw in the casual category is the Lush black maxi dress. Seriously getting this piece under $40 was such a steal. This will by far be one of my summer staple pieces. Again, I’ll throw a jean jacket over it for our chilly mornings or evenings out. I don’t know about you, but I always freeze in restaurants. I’m definitely wearing it to my daughters dance recital this weekend, with the jean jacket because it’s -40 degrees in the auditorium. Kidding, not kidding. Throw on a long necklace and some flats or flip flops and you’re all set!
I needed to add a pair of white shorts to my summer wardrobe. I had previously purchased a pair of STS blue denim shorts (here) and they were super comfy. When I came across these white frayed hem shorts I grabbed them. I feel when you find a nice comfy denim short under $40 you better grab it up before everyone else does.
What I’d consider date night pieces.
I’ll be honest, my husband and I get a date night about once every 6 months. No, I’m not exaggerating. That’s what happens when he works typically six days a week and the kids are constantly busy. Come time we have a night off, we’d rather stay home and relax by the fire pit with a beer. So, when we do take advantage of going out, this is what I got!
I’m sure if you’ve done any shopping this season whether it be online or in store you’ve seen the ever popular off the shoulder tops. This Socialite Crochet off the shoulder top will be my first venture with off the shoulder tops. Number 1, I love the hot blush color. Number 2, the extra crochet ruffle detail did it for me. I’ll be pairing it with a pair of skinnies and wedges or flats.
I’ve been watching this Moon River cold shoulder top. I finally made the plunge while shopping the half yearly sale. This is a perfect date night piece. Add in some dark or black skinny jeans and a pair of heels and we’re ready for a night out on the town. I think I see a casino trip in our future, or we are overdue for a trip to Nemacolin Woodlands to show off this ensemble.
I guess there’s something about showing some shoulder that screams “Date Night” to me. Probably because I feel I need to be more conservative on how I dress with my kids? Who knows. The color and floral pattern with this Sun & Shadow blouse hooked me in. I’m not a huge floral person, the the subtleness of it I loved. It’s so light and perfect for summer. I’ll tie in a pair of my go to skinny jeans, wedges and be set. Plus, major bonus it was under $30!
I can never pass up new shoes.
I’m proud of myself. I only snagged two pair of shoes during the sale. I purchased my first pair of Espadrilles. These Soludos striped ankle wrap espadrilles are so cute. I wore them this week on my grocery expedition to Sam’s Club and I was surprised at how comfortable they were. Sometimes I feel shoes that wrap around the ankle are hard to get at the right tightness and loosen up throughout the day. No issue there with these bad boys. They stayed tied all day long.
I needed a new pair of chunky heels. Okay, maybe I didn’t need them but I wanted a new pair. Story of my life… LOL This is my first pair of Hinge brand shoes. They had a great price point, with great laser cut detail. I went with grey so I could be more versatile.
That’s my Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale wrap-up! I racked up some great points to use towards my next shopping spree. If you shopped the sale, leave a comment and let me know what your favorite buys were!
