I’m not really sure when it started, but this is the first year I’ve heard about and really cared that it was National Rosé Day. And, let me say that I’m not ashamed to mention I’ve been looking forward to it for a few weeks now!
I’m sure many of you will be shocked to hear I’ve only started drinking wine here in the last five years. [Gasp… can you believe it?] I was always afraid to try it because I’m not a fan of grape juice and worried that’s that it would be like. I first started out as a sweet Moscato girl [Cupcake was my favorite]. Then a few years ago my dear friend moved back home and I consider her my wine guru. She was not a sweet girl at all and told me if I wanted to stop getting a morning after headache after only one glass it was time to cut the sweet wine.
She was easy on me and first took me to Pinot Grigio, then to my now favorite Sauvignon Blanc along with Rosé and in the winter when I’ve got the fireplace going I’ll grab a glass of Cabernet. I’ve become so proud of myself and my wine palette. However, when it’s 80 degrees out and we’re hanging by the pool I’ll definitely reach for a glass of Rosé.
