Cinco de Mayo is this week so it’s the perfect time to try out a new margarita recipe. In all honesty, I’ve had very few margaritas in my life but I prefer over the rocks rather than frozen. I feel like most women enjoy a little spice in their life, so I decided to put together a no fuss spicy strawberry margarita.
What You’ll Need for a Spicy Strawberry Margarita
- Margarita or cocktail glasses
- Ice
- Preferred Tequila- the more expensive the better you’ll feel the next day.
- 1 Lime
- 2 Strawberries
- Course Kosher Salt
- 1 jalapeño
- Lime flavored sparkling water
- Orange juice
Start by prepping the limes, strawberries and jalapeño as shown above. Be sure to remove all seeds from the jalapeño! Rub a lime slice along the rim of the glass and place in the salt to coat the rim.
Next, add the strawberries to the glass (I did enough just to coat the bottom) and muddle it. Add a few slices of jalapeño then ice.
Now comes the good part. Add a shot of your preferred tequila or about an ounce and a half. Give it a splash of orange juice and top off with the lime flavored sparkling water.
By using the the sparkling water and orange juice you’re going to save time and a mess in the kitchen over juicing your own limes and orange.
Believe it or not, I had no margarita worthy glasses so I just grabbed these shatterproof cocktail glasses from Amazon. I felt they’d be perfect for having around the pool and outside.
If strawberry in your cocktails isn’t your favorite, you may love the spicy cranberry margarita I made last year for Cinco de Mayo!
Now, grab your margarita and go hang out on the porch like I’ll be! It’s perfect for porch sipping.
