July 13th started the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (#nsale2017) and oh my was it a good one. If you were a Nordstrom card holder you were given early access to the sale. The sale started at 3am my time on the 13th, and I’m not ashamed to say I set my alarm to get up at the ass crack of dawn (3am) to shop. Thank goodness I did because the sale basically crashed Nordstrom’s website and orders were very difficult to process throughout the day! The plus side to that… (you’d think with something like that there is no plus side) instead of Nordstrom giving triple points on the 13th-14th, they gave 10x rewards points as an apology! Hello… apology accepted, so much I may have placed another order to take advantage of those extra points!
Love ’em or leave ’em.
I made purchases for the whole family during the early access sale. I’ve always been a sale shopper, but what makes this sale so different from the rest is they put NEW merchandise on sale for the upcoming season, rather than the leftovers being on sale.
Personally I found myself lots of layering pieces. Lots of cardigans so it makes it easy to take off or layer up depending on your hot flashes. LOL The booties this season are amazing. My man Vince gave us so many fabulous options for this fall season, you’re going to be in love!
Now to the good stuff, I’ll share with you all the product details of what I got and put together along with what pieces I plan on keeping and shipping back!
PS- Yes there is a bear in my bedroom… my husband thought it would be funny to hide it behind the chair to scare me when I came home from a trip. It’s going to the game room the next time he’s out of town!
Casual/Athletic
LOVE IT- This comfy ruffle sleeve shirt dress is a perfect fall transition piece. Super easy to start it out with sandals or converse and on into fall break out the booties. These B.P. booties are another LOVE! Booties are true to size and I’m wearing an XS in the dress!
LOVE- These Zella bootcut pants are extremely soft and comfy. They have a high waist and hug the right curves. The only downfall for me was that they were about an inch too long.
LEAVE ‘EM- I’ve followed lots of bloggers who rave about the Zella leggings. Granted, they are comfy, and have a high waist so you know they’ll stay up, but for me they are more of an exercise legging. I wasn’t crazy about the strong seam that runs down the leg and they were a tad long on me. (I’m 5’3 and wearing XS) For me, they weren’t worth the $$.
LOVE- Ok, so I’ll be honest. I’m one of those people that buy “workout” clothes and I never workout. My goal is for that to change this fall when the kids go back to school, but we’ll see. Now, I wasn’t crazy about the regular Zella leggings, but I love the extra detail of the mesh on these crop leggings. They add that little extra fun to your workout attire when you know you really don’t want to go to the gym!
LOVE- I was due for a new pair of tennis shoes. Oh my goodness, these Nike’s are so lightweight and literally form to your foot. They are truly “fantabulous”! They run true to size.
Let me say, it’s hard to really show how well leggings look. BUT, these B.P. leggings I would say are mid waist, great length and not very thin- so they’ll hold up well in the wash. The best part?? They are under $12!! Yep, I’m definitely grabbing a few more pair at that steal. They are considered juniors, but I’m still wearing an XS.
Hinge Sweatshirt / Jeans / Booties
I’m going to be honest, I’m not overly crazy about either of these tie front sweatshirts. I love the tie aspect, however two weeks ago I grabbed the Caslon tie front sweatshirt and I LOVE it sooo much more. It’s super soft and lightweight, so I’d check it out!
LOVE- I’ve been looking this summer for a utility pant. Welp, I found one and I love it. This utility pant that I purchased in green, has a great fit and stretch. I ordered it in a petite so it fit better with booties for fall. Just pair it with a plain tee and you’re set!
LOVE- I’m seriously all about the basic tee, with a touch of detail. This mustard color is perfect for the fall season. Love the choker neck style and loose fit. Just give it a little side tuck with some skinny jeans and boots and you’re good to go! Bonus: It’s under $20!
LOVE- I’m definitely keeping these long sleeve pocket tees. The striped and basic tee are both great. They are lightweight enough that you can even layer with cardigans this fall/winter. Again, with a price of under $20 it’s a great staple piece for the closet!
Definitely grab up these Lush tops. Amazing sale price and there’s a few colors to choose from. Perfect length with the added pocket and roll sleeve detail. Under $30!
It’s my buddy Free People again! This slouchy off the shoulder sweater is the perfect fit. Definitely try and snag one of these bad boys!
Layer up with cardigans and sweaters.
LOVE- If you can’t tell by now, I love the choker detail tops. This BP Sweater has a cute choker around the neck, which I feel helps offset the deep V. Perfect for an evening out! And you can’t ever pass up on BP’s sale prices!
LOVE- Ok, so I decided to see what all the hype was about with these Barefoot Dreams cardigans. I thought there was no way they were as good as all the reviews and the price tag. Well, I stand corrected. You literally feel like you are wrapped up in a cloudy dream. This is a piece I’ll be adding to my closet yearly during the anniversary sale! Plus, I’m putting the robe on my Christmas list!
SO, SO- This lightweight peplum jacket still has me on the fence. I really like the peplum detail and how lightweight it is. It’s great because it won’t leave me sweating like crazy indoors in the fall/winter. I’m wearing an XXS as it was recommended to size down.
LOVE- This draped utility jacket I feel is super versatile. It can go very casual with a pair of converse or dress it up a bit with boots or booties. It has a cinch waist to help make it make it a bit more fitted. I’m wearing an XXS as it was suggested to size down and the fit is great.
LEAVE IT- This Bobeau hi-lo cardigan had mixed reviews online. I really like the hi-lo style. The material is soft and comfy, however the arms are a tad tight. I’m wearing in an XS, possibly if I traded for a small it may feel a bit better. I wanted to love it because having a price of around $30 makes it awesome!
LOVE- Totally digging this asymmetrical sweatshirt/sweater! I love this grey color and the versatility of the necklines! I’m wearing XS and the fit is great!
LOVE- I love how just adding the hood to this cardigan can really change up the look. Billabong isn’t one of my go to brands, but I’m digging the stripes and hood!
LOVE- This casual blazer will be a perfect staple piece in my closet. Great for meetings, errands or an evening out! This thing comes in many colors and is under $40!
Cardigan / Booties
LOVE- BP does it again! You can’t beat this long ribbed cardigan with pockets. Amazing price point that you can’t pass up. Fits true to size!
LOVE- I love this off the shoulder- sweetheart neckline sweatshirt. Great comfortable fabric and the neckline hits the shoulders just right and stays put. I’m in love with this blush color!
LOVE- This ruffle sleeve sweater is a piece that does so well Nordstrom brought it back again this year. Definitely grab up this cutie!
LOVE- Free People is definitely one of my go to brands. It’s always super comfy. I love this split back detail sweater. And, it comes in a few colors to choose from! Trust me, you don’t want to pass up grabbing a Free People sweater under $45!
LOVE- More ruffles! This ruffle detail and cold shoulder gives some great added detail to a basic sweatshirt. Plus, an awesome price point of $30!
LOVE- Another asymmetrical detail sweater/sweatshirt. This tunic length is perfect for fall and I LOVE the burgundy color!
Ready for a night out.
This jacket is probably my favorite purchase from the Anniversary Sale. It’s a soft velour with metallic gold thread details. IT IS SO PRETTY! Also, these over the knee boots are to die for!
I wasn’t crazy about this top. It’s a silky blouse with ruffle sleeves. I feel it will wrinkle rather easily and it ran small through the shoulders.
Boots and Booties
Booties – Size up 1/2 size
Booties – TTS
Over Knee Boots – (also available with no heel)
Vince Camuto knocked it out of the park this season with his boots and booties. Amazing detail whether it be laser cut or corset.
These BP booties are adorable. You can see in all my outfits how versatile they are. I grabbed them in both black and grey.
These Sperry wedge’s are something that I feel looked much better online. The top was just a bit too wide for my liking and it felt very clunky. I vote no.
I’m not sure why, but these loafers just kept calling me. I’ve NEVER bought a shoe style like this before, but I’m definitely keeping them. I purchased the grey and they came in a velour type material.
I hope these “Love ’em & Leave ’em’s” help get you started for the public access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. In the next few days I’ll be following up with what I bought for the rest of the family and what they loved and didn’t. Happy Shopping!
